Police chief takes oath

Wade Carpenter Tuesday morning became the chief of police in Park City, taking the oath of office in a brief ceremony at Miners Hospital.

Cindy LoPiccolo, the senior Park City recorder, gave him the oath. Retired Police Chief Lloyd Evans, who was Carpenter’s predecessor, police officers and City Hall staffers surrounded Carpenter as he became the chief.

"Wade, glad you’re here," City Manager Tom Bakaly said.

Carpenter signed paperwork after taking the oath.

Mayor Dana Williams and the Park City Council are scheduled to hold a ceremonial swearing-in for Carpenter on July 10.
