Police receive report of person living on a hillside on edge of Prospector
The Park City Police Department last week received at least two reports of people who were possibly living outdoors or camping inside the city, with the department receiving information about someone on the edge of Prospector and someone in the hills south of Old Town.
On Saturday, Aug. 21 at 10:15 a.m., the police were alerted to a person who was reportedly seen living on a hillside behind a condominium building that is on the 1700 block of Iron Horse Loop Road. The police were told someone was hiking and came across a campsite.
Meanwhile, On Friday, Aug. 20 at 7:11 a.m., the police were told people might be camping at the site of the runaway-truck lane off Marsac Avenue, just south of Old Town. The people were noisy the night before, the police were told.
The Police Department occasionally receives reports about people living in the mountains that ring Park City. Officers sometimes find remnants of a campsite, but it is rare that the police find someone who has taken up residence in the outdoors.
Some people also throw parties in the mountains, resulting in a call to the police.
