Police: shoe used as weapon in Main Street nightclub fight
November 6, 2012
The Park City Police Department arrested a woman at a Main Street nightclub in late October, claiming that she smacked a security guard in the face with one of her shoes.
The security guard suffered a large cut, the police said. Phil Kirk, a police captain, said the cut was above his right eye. A Park City Fire District ambulance crew treated him at the scene and he then went in a private vehicle to the Park City Medical Center, Kirk said.
The police were called to the nightclub at 11:40 p.m. on Oct. 27 after receiving a report of a fight. Three men and one woman were still fighting when the police arrived shortly later.
Kirk said the security team at the nightclub told the police a waitress complained that a woman hit her in the face. A security guard found the woman and attempted to escort her out, the police were told. Kirk said witnesses told the police a man who was with the woman attempted to punch the security guard, a struggle ensued and the man hit the guard twice in the face.
Others on the security team assisted as they tried to remove the two. Security guards and the man went to the ground. Kirk said the police were told the woman then grabbed one of the security guards and smacked him with the wedge-style shoe.
Kirk said officers were told the woman might have struck several nightclub staffers with the shoe. The man, meanwhile, might have bitten one member of the security team, according to statements made to the police.
