Queen for a summer

Last Saturday, a posse of young cowgirls gathered at the Summit County Fairgrounds in Coalville to get some tips on how to become bona fide Rodeo Royalty. Summit County’s official Rodeo Queen and Little Buckaroo Princess will be selected June 7. Contestants must register by May 27. The queen contest is open to girls ages 15-24, the Buckaroo contests are for ages 9-14. About 15 girls attended the clinic to learn more about modeling, interviews and reining. Tessa Neuenschwander (in black) and McKalie Richins (in pink) who earned their royal sashes last year were on hand, and on horseback, to show the younger girls how to handle their horses in the arena.
