As of Dec. 31, PCMR is reporting 15 lifts open, servicing 91 runs, 37 groomed. Base depth is 42 inches. Four bowls, one pipe and three parks are open. Lifts run 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and the Alpine Coaster is open from noon to 4 p.m. For more information, visit or call 800-222-PARK.


As of Dec. 31, The Canyons Resort is reporting 16 lifts open, servicing 117 runs, 43 groomed. Four bowls and five halfpipes are open. The mid-mountain base depth is 31 inches. The summit base depth is 40 inches. For more information, visit or call 888-CANYONS.


As of Dec. 31, Deer Valley is reporting 20 lifts open, servicing 89 runs. Five of seven bowls are open. The snow depth is 41 inches. Lifts run 9 a.m.-4:15 p.m. For more information, visit or call 435-649-1000.

Soldier Hollow has 28km of track groomed for classic and skate cross-country skiing. Soldier Hollow is also open for tubing and snowshoeing. For more information, call 435-654-2002 or visit.


The Utah Avalanche Center is issuing intermittent advisories at and on its toll-free hotline, 1-888-999-4019. Hikers, snowshoers, early skiers and riders, and hunters still heading into the high country should avoid steep blanketed and drifted slopes in the higher elevations. This includes the Wasatch and Bear River ranges, the Wasatch Plateau, and particularly the Uinta Mountains, which seem primed for the greatest accumulations and wind.

UTAH OLYMPIC PARK The Utah Olympic Park is open daily 10 a.m.-6 p.m., with two free museums, self-guided tours and athlete training. Expert guided tours of the Olympic venue run daily 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Reservations for the winter Comet Bobsled ride may be made online or by calling 435-658-4206. As of Dec. 26 the Rail Trail has been groomed from Bonanza to 248. Round Valley connector is groomed, adding another 5K of interconnect trail to the system. The Quinn’s Trailhead is accessible but be aware of heavy equipment moving through the area. The Silver Summit access was groomed and 12K of Round Valley was groomed. The park offers seven tubing lanes, mini-snowmobile rides and tubing carousel for children ages six and younger.
