Reports of stolen skis start to subside

by Jay Hamburger THE PARK RECORD

The Park City Police Department last week received at least two reports of skis being stolen, a drop from a string of complaints in recent weeks.

Both of the cases last week were reported on Tuesday, March 13. One of them, at 1:35 p.m., was reported on the 2200 block of Deer Valley Drive. The other was reported at 6:03 p.m. on the 1300 block of Lowell Avenue. Both of the locations are at or close to the base areas of the local mountain resorts.

The Police Department recommended people secure their skis and register them through a department program. The resorts offer places to secure skis.

Sometimes skis reported to be stolen are in fact misplaced and they are later found by the owner.

At least 12 cases had been reported since early February before the two last week.
