Rockport concert: Blues for a good cause
Many of the groups playing Saturday trace their musical roots to 1980s, when blues music began to gain popularity in Salt Lake City. Daniels was a founding member of the band Back Alley, now called Harry Lee & the Back Alley, about 18 years ago. The group plays Saturday billed as "Harry Lee & the Back Alley."
"These are musicians, not wannabes," Daniels said. He encouraged patrons to bring lawn chairs, sunscreen and swimsuits for what he hopes will become an annual event. "We want to keep it local, and raise money for people ever year," he said. "There’s always someone in need."
The Rhythm and Blues Rendezvous is at Rockport State Park July 18 from 2 to 10 p.m. The concert is free with admission to the park.
