Silver Queen Fine Art will celebrate its grand re-opening on Saturday, Aug. 21, at its new location, 577 Main Street Suite C. The event is open to the public. High West Distillery and Saloon will provide food and drinks. Sculptor Tim Cotterill, also known as the "Frogman," will personalize sculptures from 6 to 9 p.m.
Trail work event
Join the Jan’s group ride on Tuesday, Aug. 24, for a "Ride/Work/Ride" event. The group will ride bikes from Jans to the designated trail and work until dusk with the trail crew from Mountain Trails Foundation. Bring work gloves, food and water and a light jacket. Wasatch State Park Fundraiser
Friends of Wasatch Mountain State Park will host its annual "Hit and Giggle" fundraiser on Wednesday, Aug. 25, at the Soldier Hollow Golf Course and Day Lodge in Midway. The event features a team scramble golf tournament at 4 p.m. followed by dinner and a silent auction. Golfers can sign up individually or as six-person teams. SnowSports Film Festival
The Egyptian Theatre is accepting entries for the inaugural Park City SnowSports Film Festival. Submissions can be amateur or professional, short or long form as long as they pertain to any sport that involves snow and are in DVD format. The festival will run from Aug. 28 through Sept. 5. Drop off submissions at The Egyptian Theatre or mail them to P.O. Box 3119, Park City, UT 84060. Include name of entry, name of person submitting, contact info, brief description and length. Lango will hold free demo language classes for children on Friday, Aug. 20, at Black Diamond Gymnastics. Spanish for parents and preschoolers will take place from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Spanish for early elementary children is from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. and French for mixed ages is from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Lango teaches language to children 18 months to 11 years using an innovative approach that combines stories, music and movement, playacting and game-playing.
