Park City Film Series: ‘Kumaré’
The Park City Film Series will screen Vikram Gandhi’s "Kumaré," not rated, at the Jim Santy Auditorium at the Park City Library and Education Center, 1255 Park Avenue. Screenings will be Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7, and Dec. 8, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. "Kumaré is the invention of filmmaker Vikram Gandhi, a first-generation New Yorker fascinated by the way many Americans are drawn to the perceived mysticism of the East. Gandhi travels to Arizona to re-create himself as the new prophet in town, hoping to prove the absurdity of blind faith. Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for students and senior citizens. Christmas for the Kids at Basin Recreation
Basin Recreation Fieldhouse, 1388 Center Dr. at Kimball Junction, will host a Christmas for Kids event on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. The event will feature free family holiday photos with Santa Claus between 3:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. Other activities will include bounce houses and arts and crafts. Hanukkah at Temple Har Shalom
The Temple Har Shalom, 3700 N. Brookside Ct., will celebrate the first night of Hanukkah on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 5:30 p.m. with the lighting of the first candle in its new Menorah. The event will feature a buffet dinner sponsored by Whole Foods, cocktails from High West Distillery and magician Richard Hatch. Member tickets are $30 for adults and $40 for nonmembers. ‘Christmas Around the World’ With the Salt Lake Choral Artists
The Salt Lake Choral Artists will present "Christmas Around the World" at Park City Community Church, 4501 S.R. 224, on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m. Audiences will discover new carols from different nations of the world and rediscover some old favorites. The missing man, Kyle S. Wimpenny, of Boise, Idaho, left for a backpacking trip Sunday, Sept. 13 and was supposed to return home Wednesday, Sept. 16.
