Summit County and the City of Coalville are announcing a Call for Entries for the 2012 to 2013 show in the outdoor public-art sculpture gallery, "Summit County Artscape." This public-art project seeks a variety of artwork introducing viewers to artistic approaches from all over the country. The exhibit is open to all artists. Works will display on Main Street May 1 through April 30. Pieces must be ready to install and be sustainable outdoors without maintenance for one year. Transportation is the responsibility of the artist. The deadline for this year’s Artscape submissions is Friday, April 6. Nellie McKay in "I Want to Live" at the Eccles Center
Independent musician and actress Nellie McKay applies her staggering musical talents to a new project, "I Want to Live," at the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts, 1750 Kearns Blvd., on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m. McKay takes on the role of Barbara Graham, which won Susan Hayward an Oscar in the 1958 film of the same name. Graham is the scheming, lying, colorful gal who was convicted of murder and was the third woman to die in the gas chamber in California at San Quentin. Artspark to Start New Sessions Artspark’s will begin a new session of creative after-school art classes at all of the elementary schools in Park City on different days of the week beginning on Monday, Feb. 27, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Registration is $125 for six weeks of classes, which includes all the supplies. The All-District Spring String Thing
The All-District Spring String Thing, which features the All-District Strings, the Park City High School Chamber Orchestra, the Park City High School Symphony Orchestra, Treasure Mountain Junior High Orchestra, the district’s sixth-grade orchestra, the district’s seventh-grade orchestra, the Park City String Band and the Ecker Hill String Band, will be held at the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts, 1750 Kearns Blvd., on Wednesday, Feb. 29, at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.
