Olympic Anniversary at Park City Mountain Resort

Park City Mountain Resort will host an Olympic Anniversary celebration at the base of First Time lift today, Saturday, Feb. 4, at 3 p.m. The program will honor the resort’s legacy of local youth program alumni who went to represent Team USA at the 2002 Winter Olympics. This "past, present and future"-themed event will include a number of Olympic athletes with ties to the resort including: 2002 snowboard halfpipe gold medalist Ross Powers, Park City all-star and likely 2014 Olympian Ashley Battersby and Olympic alpine skier Heidi Voelker. The athletes will speak the Olympics and will meet and visit the Park City Mountain Resort’s current generation of local youth students. Refreshments will be served.

Shen Yun at the Eccles Center

Shen Yun Performing Arts, which will present an artistic and historic Chinese program at the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts, 1750 Kearns Blvd., at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 4, Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts was established in 2006 with the mission of reviving 5,000 years of divinely inspired Chinese culture. 5k Fun Run

Meet the candidates running for federal, state, and local offices at the Best Western Landmark Inn, 6560 Landmark Dr., at Kimball Junction on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 6 p.m. Candidates will have some time to introduce themselves and explain why they are are running. There will be a Q&A, and then time to mix and mingle. The candidates that are currently scheduled to speak are Tim Alders (senate), John Swallow (attorney general), Dan Deuel, (state senate), Ken Sumsion (governor), Morgan Philpot (governor) and John Zimmerman (state legislator).

Mountaineer Guy Cotter at the Jim Santy Auditorium

Mountaineer Guy Cotter, owner of Adventure Consultants, will give a presentation called "Climbing Around the World" on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. in the Jim Santy Auditorium of the Park City Library and Education Center, 1255 Park Ave. Tickets will be available at the door. The cost is $10 for adults, and $5 for students. Cash and checks will be accepted. All proceeds will benefit the Mountain Trails Foundation and the Summit Land Conservancy.
