Sgt. Alan Siddoway from the Summit County Sheriff’s Department will be the speaker at the newcomers’ monthly membership coffee meeting at the Park City Community Church, 4501 S.R. 224, on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m. He will talk about the Search and Rescue Department and some rescues and give tips about wilderness safety. After the discussion, the group will join for lunch at Squatters.
Utah Symphony at the Eccles Center
The Utah Symphony will perform Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony at the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, Feb. 9, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be conducted by Utah Symphony music director Thierry Fischer and will feature Dutch violinist Simone Lamsma, winner of the HRH Princess Alice and the Louise Child prizes. Tickets range from $17 to $51 and can be purchased by calling (801) 355-ARTS (2787), in person at the Abravanel Hall ticket office, or by visiting http://www.usuo.org. The Sweetheart Gala has become a Valentine’s Day tradition for many in Park City. The eighth annual big-band dinner dance fundraiser for Park City High School bands will be held on Friday, Feb. 10, at 6 p.m. in the Grand Hall of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1505 White Pine Canyon Rd. Tickets for premium tables adjacent to the dance floor are $600 per table of ten; all other seats are $500 per table of ten or $50 per individual seat.
