The Utah Symphony, conducted by Vladimir Kulenovic, will present its annual Patriot Celebration concert at the Snow Park Amphitheater to start the Deer Valley Music Festival on Saturday, July 7, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature works from Sousa, John Williams and Copland. Independence Day Celebration and Rodeo Series in Oakley
Oakley’s Independence Day celebration will continue Saturday, July 7, with a breakfast at Oakley Hall at 8 a.m. and horse pulls at the Oakley Recreation Complex at 11 a.m. There will be softball tournaments throughout the day and the 2012 Ram Rodeo Series will be held at the Oakley Arena, 43000 North S.R. 32, in Oakley, at 8 p.m. For more information, visit http://www.oakleycity.com/celebration-schedule.htm.
Park Silly Sunday Market
The Park Silly Sunday Market continues on Main Street on Sunday, July 8, at 10 a.m. The market will feature food, crafts, soaps and other locally-produced items each Sunday through Sept. 23. Main stage music on July 8 will include a musical collage of Bittersweet Bluegrass at 11 a.m. and the roots music of Lash Larue at 2 p.m. The Farmer’s Market stage will present the acoustic songs of Melody and Tyler at 10 a.m. and Gigi Love at 1 p.m. The Miner’s Park stage will feature jazz musician Will Lovell at 1:30 p.m. and singer and songwriter Nicole Paradiso at 3 p.m. Admission is free. Bilingual Story Time at the Library
The Summit County Library Kimball Junction Branch, 1885 W. Ute Blvd., will present a family bilingual story time on Monday, July 9, at 6 p.m. The staff will read stories and fun for children and their parents in Spanish and English. Newcomers Club Monthly Coffee
The Newcomers Club monthly coffee meeting will be held Wednesday, July 11, at Park City Community Church, 4501 S.R. 224, at 10 a.m. The speaker this month will be Randy Barton, manager of the Egyptian Theatre, who will discuss the past present and future of this historical landmark on Main St. Lunch following the meeting will be at Red Tail Grill at Canyons. The group that represents businesses in the Main Street core of Park City formally outlined a request to close the shopping, dining and entertainment strip to traffic on Sundays in the summer and early fall.
