Cruiser Rides & Plaza Palooza
Silver Star Ski & Sport hosts a cruiser ride every Thursday at 5:15 p.m. throughout the summer. Rent a bike or bring your own. Enjoy free live music afterward at Silver Star Plaza, 1835 Three Kings Drive, from 6 until 9 p.m. The concerts are presented by Park City Mountain Resort and are slated to continue weekly through Sept. 3. Parent/Child Journey workshop
The National Ability Center’s Equine Facilitated Learning Program, in collaboration with life coach Colleen Oshier and mental health and equine specialist Alejandra Lara, will host a three-week parent/child workshop July 13, 20 and 27 from 7 until 9 p.m. Experience how horses can help you become aware of the impact you have on the people around you and your environment through verbal and non-verbal communication. Arts-Kids presents Camp Artventure at Park City Mountain Resort July 19-23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The camp includes painting, tie-dye and three dimensional visual arts, as well as activities such as the Alpine Slide. Newcomers’ monthly meeting
The Park City Newcomers’ Club will hold its monthly coffee meeting in the Fellowship Hall of the Park City Community Church Wednesday, July 14, at 10 a.m. Speaker Lauren Vitulli, the Kimball Art Center Ceramics Studio Manager and volunteer coordinator for the 2010 Park City Kimball Arts Festival, will talk about the history of the Arts Festival and how artists are chosen to participate. Volunteer opportunities are available for this year’s fest, which will be held Aug. 7-8 on Main Street.
Summer Orchestra for teens
Students in grades 9 through 12 are invited to join the Park City Summer Orchestra, which will be held Aug. 9-14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Park City High School. Discover the masterworks of symphonic literature through sectional and orchestra rehearsals while preparing for a concert performance. Tuition includes complimentary tickets to Deer Valley Music Festival concerts and workshops with David Lockington and Mark Connor. The cost is $175.
