Sundance Film Series

Join the Sundance Institute Film Series for a free screening of Warwick Thornton’s "Samson & Delilah" at the Park City Library on Thursday, May 6, at 7 p.m. Winner of the Camera D’Or at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, the film is a coming-of-age tale full of hope and survival rooted in a small community in the Central Australian desert.

"Darcy’s Cinematic Life" The drama department of Ecker Hill International Middle School will present "Darcy’s Cinematic Life" May 6-8 at 6:30 p.m. The play focuses on Darcy, who struggles with many of the issues that teenagers deal with on a day-to-day basis. What makes her unique, however, is that she experiences the events in her life as short movies. Ecker Hill has teamed up with Park City High School to create a series of short movies to include as scenes in the play and enhance the stage experience for the students and the audience. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.

"Couture in Motion"

Ballet West and Farasha, a Park City-based women’s clothing and accessories boutique, present "Couture In Motion" on Saturday, May 8, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the St. Regis Deer Crest Resort. The event will include a fashion show featuring Ballet West dancers modeling clothing from worldwide designers, the "Shoe-In" art auction, and "Fantasy Tutu," showcasing local designers’ original tutu creations. A Red Carpet Affair The Figure Skating Club of Park City will present its annual spring ice show at Park City Ice Arena Saturday, May 8, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Figure Skating Club members, Park City Ice Arena professional staff, Learn to Skate participants, Synchro Park City and Aerial Silk on Ice performers will perform to music from the Grammys, the Emmys, the Tonys and the Academy Awards. Admission is $7 per person over 6 years of age.

Newcomers’ meeting

Join the Newcomers’ Club of Park City for its monthly coffee meeting on Wednesday, May 12, at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Park City Community Church, 4501 S.R. 224.
