Scooter riders join bicyclists in encroaching on the skate park

People riding scooters were reportedly seen in the City Park skate park on two occasions last week, unusual occurrences in a facility designed for skateboarders and inline skaters.

According to the Park City Police Department, kids were seen on scooters at the park on Thursday, July 1 at 3:14 p.m. Earlier in the week, on Monday, June 28, people on scooters were seen at the park. Public police logs did not provide details about the two sightings.

It is rare for the Police Department to receive complaints about scooter riders in the skate park. It is more common for skateboarders or inline skaters to call the police when a bicyclist encroaches on the popular facility. Bicyclists are prohibited.

The police, meanwhile, received at least three complaints in late June and early July about bicyclists in the park, continuing a string of recent reports.

The incidents included:

a bicyclist being spotted in the skate park at 6:55 p.m. on Thursday, July 1.

two bicyclists seen at 8:08 p.m. on Monday, June 28.

a bicyclist sighting at 3:17 p.m. on June 28.
