Sharon Lee Longson
Sharon Lee Longson passed away on Monday, Nov. 19, 2007 at her home in Park City, Utah following a two-year battle with brain cancer. She was born Oct.7, 1976 in Plainview, N.Y. to Keith and Catherine Payne. She married Gregory Frank Longson on May 8, 2002 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Sharon had many talents, including great artistic skill and the ability to befriend and relate to anyone she’d meet. She was gregarious, enthusiastic, happy, and brought her unique sense of humor to any gathering. Her life was filled with many friends and amazing adventures. A world traveler and outdoor enthusiast, Sharon loved backcountry skiing, mountain and road biking, canyoneering, horseback riding, scuba diving, paragliding, and visiting exotic places. She loved animals and frequently rescued sick and injured animals.
She graduated from Brigham Young University in 1998 with a B.S. in recreation management. She has lived in London, Japan, Germany, California, Hawaii, and Utah. She worked as a horseback guide, a wilderness guide for troubled youth in central Utah, a retail manager in the ski industry, and a medical laser technician.
Her greatest adventure and accomplishment, though, was as a wife to Greg and a mother to Wyatt Payne, age 3 and Cody Lee, age 1, whom she loved and served with all her heart. Sharon is survived by her husband and their two sons of Park City; her parents, Keith and Catherine Payne of Orem; her brothers, Kim Keith (Gail) Payne of Orem; Kris Keith (Jennifer) Payne of Richland, WA; grandmothers, Joyce Payne and Helen Pierce.
She is preceded in death by her grandfathers, Rulon S. Payne and Edward Lee Pierce; and her infant nieces and nephew, Grace, Megan, and Kyle Payne.
Sharon touched the lives of many people. She is deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services for all friends and family will be held at noon on Monday, Nov. 26, 2007 at the LDS Trailside Chapel, 510 E. Silver Summit Parkway, Park City, Utah.
