Citizens Series race switch
The Smartwool Wasatch Citizens Series is switching Saturday’s scheduled race from White Pine to Soldier Hollow. The originally scheduled Jan. 21 race at Soldier Hollow will be moved to White Pine. More details at http://www.utahnordic.com
Christmas tree recycling by Park City Lacrosse
It’s time to sign up for the annual Park City Lacrosse Christmas tree recycling fundraiser. For a $25 tax-deductible donation, members of the boys’ and girls’ high school lacrosse teams will pick up your tree at your home and recycle it. Pickup dates are Saturday, Jan. 7, Sunday, Jan. 8, or Saturday, Jan. 14. Registration is online at http://www.parkcitylax.org.
USSA Intermountain Masters races
The USSA Intermountain Masters program invites all ski racers age 21 to 100 to participate in the annual Loritz/Pendleton Cup ski races Jan. 6-8. This is the premier race series of the season for the masters, so make plans now to race one or all three days. Races start off with a super G on Friday, followed by a slalom race on Saturday and concluding with the giant slalom on Sunday. Races are USSA sanctioned, with awards going to the top finishers in all age groups. A free awards banquet with delicious food is hosted by the Intermountain Masters all three days. High Country Fly Fishers
On Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 7:30 p.m., High Country Fly Fishers, the Park City Chapter of Trout Unlimited, will hold its monthly meeting. The meeting will be held upstairs at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at the intersection of S.R. 224 and White Pine Canyon Road in Park City. This month’s meeting is the club’s annual business meeting followed by a report on the recent "Fish Survey at Strawberry Reservoir" by Utah DWR biologists Alan Ward and Justin Robinson. CPR/First Aid/AED Course
When an emergency happens, make sure you know what to do. Go to the PC MARC (Racquet Club) and learn first aid, CPR and AED skills from certified National Safety Council instructors Monday, Jan. 23, from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Register online at http://www.parkcityrecreation.org or call the front desk at (435) 615-5400. This course meets national safety standards.
ZBAdventures is offering snowshoe rentals as well as cross-country ski demos from Salomon. ZBAdventures also has guides and Nordic instructors available. Yurt hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call (435) 901-0363.
Team Altitude Speed & Conditioning Winter Session
This program for boys and girls 5th through 8th grade is designed to improve overall condition, strength, endurance, speed and footwork. The class is scheduled to run Mondays 7 to 8:45 p.m. from Jan. 3 through March 18 at the Treasure Mountain Middle School. Strength and conditioning will run from 7 to 8 p.m., with basketball shooting practice/clinic from 8 to 8:45 p.m. There will be no sessions when school is closed. Full punch card (eight visits) is $28; partial punch card (five visits) is $20; drop-ins are $5/session. Youth Baseball Tryouts
Park City Baseball (PCB) is conducting PC Avalanche 8-14U team tryouts at the Basin Recreation Fieldhouse. The next tryout will be Saturday, Jan. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon. Avalanche teams play in one of two Salt Lake competitive leagues. All players who are interested in baseball and are committed to self-improvement and want a positive team experience are invited to try out. PCB is also pursuing options to provide professional coaches for each team who would be paid through team fundraising activities. Please advise PCB of any coaching candidates you may know of. Mom’s Power Hour
Mom’s Power Hour is a 60-minute mix of cardio, drills, strength training and core work. Little ones are welcome. This class is for new and seasoned moms, and athletes alike. Whether folks are looking to get stronger or just looking to sweat and socialize with other moms this is a great way to spend an hour. Classes are held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9:30 a.m. at the Basin Recreation Fieldhouse. The instructor is Whitney Kozlowski.
Balloon tennis class
Balloon tennis is an introductory tennis class for children ages 3 and 4 years old. It uses tennis racquets and balloons to help children become more adept with racquet-control skills.
