Park City Sailing Associaton’s Skigatta returns

The Park City Sailing Association is hosting its second "Skigatta" on March 31 and April 1. A Skigatta is an event that combines both sailboat racing and ski racing. Between the Jordanelle Reservoir and the Park City Mountain Resort, Park City is becoming known as a perfect location to host a ski-sailing event. This year the event will be sponsored by two well-known brands, Atlantis Weathergear and Cloudveil. The sailboat racing will be conducted on Saturday, March 31, with the first race beginning at noon. The racing will be close to the shore near the personal watercraft area to insure fun for the spectators. All contestants will be wearing drysuits to protect them from the frigid spring water temperatures. The ski-racing segment will be held at PCMR on the NASTAR course beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday. The racers will spend the rest of the day free-skiing at PCMR and an après-ski awards party will take place at the resort at 3 p.m. Park City Sailing is hoping to bring contestants from both coasts to turn the Skigatta into a national event. For information on the event call Jay Miles 801-502-7885 or e-mail Jmiles@gmail.com .
