Steve Brandt made a hole-in-one on the no. 7 hole at Soldier Hollow Silver Course, Midway, on Tuesday, Sept. 11. Brandt used a 6-iron to make the 180-yard shot, which was witnessed by Greg Fraser and Dobber Price.

Free screening of ‘IRPC’ at Town Lift Plaza

Park City Mountain Resort will host a free world-premiere screening event of the film "IRPC," a skiing and snowboarding film featuring many big names in winter action sports, on the Town Lift Plaza on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. The night will kick off with an autograph session with several Park City all stars at 7 p.m. "IRPC" (I Ride Park City) was shot exclusively at Park City Mountain Resort by Jim Mangan, the resort’s director of action sports marketing, and showcases the resort’s 3 Kings Terrain Park. Little Dribblers

Let’s play some hoops! Basin Recreation’s Little Dribblers will run Oct. 15 through Dec. 1 for preschool to second-grade boys and girls. Preschool and kindergarten play on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at Trailside Elementary. First and second grade play on Mondays and Wednesdays at Ecker Hill Middle School. Kids will learn the fundamentals of basketball, preschool to kindergarten in a 4 v 4 format with a 6-foot hoop, and first to second in a 5 v 5 format with an 8-foot hoop. Cost is $60 and includes a jersey. Sign up before Sept. 24 to avoid a $10 late fee. Indicate interest in being a volunteer coach at registration. Noon basketball

Looking for a workout during your lunch hour? Come to drop-in basketball at the PC MARC every weekday from noon to 1:30 p.m. Mondays/Wednesday/Friday for all ages, Tuesday/Thursday for ages 35+. Daily drop-in rates apply. Fall special: free drop-in basketball Oct. 1-12. Call 615-5401 for details.

Park City Recreation coed volleyball league

Park City Recreation is ready to hit it up with its coed volleyball league. Team registration ends Sept. 26. Play begins Wednesday nights starting Oct. 3, in either the power or competitive divisions, at the PC MARC. Call (435) 615-5400 or go online to for more information.

Friday play date

Fridays are all about fun in the PC MARC gymnasium! Starting Friday, Oct. 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the open-gym format allows kids to run and play with foam balls, hula hoops, sports equipment, bounce house and the BIG inflatable slide. Volleyball with the pros

Learn to play volleyball with the pros through Basin Recreation. Master the fundamentals of the game before settling into a game format with a qualified coaching staff. The season will run Oct. 16 through Nov. 20 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Ecker Hill Middle School. Third through fifth grade will play from 4 to 5 p.m. with a $60 registration fee. First Park City XC Trail Half Marathon

On Saturday, Oct. 6, the Park City High School cross-country team is scheduled to host its first Park City XC half trail marathon. The course will wow runners with amazing views, fall colors, great trails, and a gentle four-mile downhill descent to the finish. The race begins at The Montage at Deer Valley Resort and finishes at Park City Mountain Resort near the First Time Lift. The race is 12.6 miles on single-track trails along the mountains. Dog obedience classes

Park City Recreation begins another session of dog obedience classes Tuesday, Oct. 2. Puppy and basic level classes are offered to fit the need of your dog. Classes are taught by local certified dog trainer Heather Hampsten. Register online at or call at (435) 615-5400.

Basin Recreation adult flag football

Basin Recreation adult flag football is scheduled to start Sept. 30 and finish Dec. 7. Games will be held at the Fieldhouse on Sundays between 5 and 9 p.m. Playoffs and a tournament will be included. Jog for Jill

On Oct. 20, 2012, Jill’s Legacy, the young advisory board to the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation "Out to Beat Lung Cancer BIG Time," will hold a 5K walk/run event on the University of Utah campus. Participants will join together to show their support in the fight against lung cancer, a very serious and forgotten disease. Parent and preschooler skate classes

Learn to skate with your child and learn the basic skating skills with an emphasis on safety during a six-week session of 30-minute classes. Classes meet Tuesdays from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. or Wednesdays from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Class fees include skate rental, class time, and practice time for one adult and one child. Adult learn-to-skate classes

Want a great way to get into shape and have a great time doing it? Come join the lunch bunch adult skating class and "ICE"ercise on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Class fees include a 30-minute lesson, practice time and a punch card for three open-skate sessions. Fall youth tennis at PC MARC

Fall youth tennis at the PC MARC is open for registration. Programs are taught by USPTA certified tennis professionals.
