High Country Fly Fishers

On Wednesday, Oct. 3, High Country Fly Fishers will hold its monthly meeting at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on S.R. 224. The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., and the public is invited. The speaker will be Trevor Howard from Trout Bum. Howard will talk about fishing with caddis flies.

Heber Valley to host Region 5 Dressage Championship

Heber Valley will host the United States Dressage Federation’s Region 5 Dressage Championship Friday, Oct. 5, through Sunday, Oct. 7, at the Wasatch Event Center in Heber. The competitive equestrian sport will draw participants from seven states and will feature the best trainers and horses in the region. Admission is free and the general public is invited. Park City Curling Club Open House

The Park City Curling Club will hold an open house and free night of curling on Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Park City Ice Arena. Basin Rec Skills and Drills Clinic

Want to learn the fundamentals of basketball? Basin Recreation has teamed up with Team Altitude for the Skills and Drills Clinic, which will run on Friday afternoons from Oct. 26 through Nov. 16 at Ecker Hill Middle School. Sessions will be divided into groups: first through third grade, fourth through fifth grade, and sixth through eighth grade. The cost of all four sessions is $40. Big Foot Soccer

Don’t put away the soccer cleats just yet! Join Basin Recreation’s Big Foot Indoor Soccer League. Come enjoy the fun minus the grass stains and cold weather. Games and practices will be held at the Fieldhouse from Oct. 29 through Dec. 15. Third and fourth graders will play on Mondays and Saturdays, fifth and sixth graders will play on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and seventh through ninth graders will play on Mondays and Saturdays. The cost is $60 per player. Sign up before Oct. 15 for the early-bird rate. Late sign-ups result in a $10 late fee. Indicate interest in being a volunteer coach upon sign-up. UEA Break Camp

Enjoy a fun-filled break from school with Basin Recreation’s UEA Break Camp from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 18 and 19 at Ecker Hill Middle School. Kids ages 6 to 12 will enjoy games, crafts, swimming and other sports. Early drop-off is at 8 a.m. and late pick-up is at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $40 per day or $75 for both days. First Park City XC Trail Half Marathon

On Saturday, Oct. 6, the Park City High School cross-country team is scheduled to host its first Park City XC half trail marathon. The course will offer runners amazing views, fall colors, great trails, and a gentle four-mile downhill descent to the finish. The race begins at The Montage at Deer Valley Resort and finishes at Park City Mountain Resort near the First Time Lift. The race is 12.6 miles on single-track trails along the mountains. First aid/CPR course certification

When an emergency happens, make sure you know what to do. Come to the PC MARC and learn first aid, CPR and AED skills from certified National Safety Council instructors on Monday, Oct. 22, from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Register online at or call the front desk at (435) 615-5400. This course meets national safety standards.

Free group fitness classes at the PC MARC

The PC MARC wants to support those healthy habits you have been working on so hard! Continue in reaching your fitness goals throughout October for free by attending the spotlighted fitness classes. PC MARC extends lap-pool season

The PC MARC lap pool will be open through October. Come enjoy the fall weather swimming outside. The Master’s Coached Swim is held 12:15-1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; the weekday Open Swim is held 3-7 p.m., and the weekend Open Swim is held from noon to 5 p.m.

Girls’ Night Out at SSAFC

The South Summit Aquatic & Fitness Center in Kamas is hosting its first-ever Girls’ Night Out on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. Registration will take place until Oct. 11. There will be many activities including Zumba classes, manicures, massages and others. Cost is just $25. Register online at or at the SSAFC front desk. Friday play date

Fridays are all about fun in the PC MARC gymnasium! Starting Friday, Oct. 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the open-gym format allows kids to run and play with foam balls, hula hoops, sports equipment, bounce house and the BIG inflatable slide. Volleyball with the pros

Learn to play volleyball with the pros through Basin Recreation. Master the fundamentals of the game before settling into a game format with a qualified coaching staff. The season will run Oct. 16 through Nov. 20 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Ecker Hill Middle School. Third through fifth grade will play from 4 to 5 p.m. with a $60 registration fee.
