Park City Ski Swap

The 40th annual Park City Ski Swap presented by the Park City Ski Team is slated for Nov. 2-4 at the Basin Recreation Fieldhouse in Kimball Junction. Sale hours are scheduled as: Friday, 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission prices are as follows: Friday night $10, Saturday $6, and Sunday $2. U.S. Masters ski season schedule

The 2013 U.S. Masters ski season schedule has been released. If you are 18 or older and want to race the same caliber venues as Olympic skiers, attend JANS Cup races this year. The 2013 JANS Cup schedule is: Jan. 11-13 Park City Mountain Resort; Feb. 9-10 Snowbasin Resort; Feb. 22-24 Wolf Mountain; March 8-10 Snowbasin Resort. Adult race training and advance skiing are available at Park City Mountain Resort. The Masters program features 90-plus all day and night sessions featuring gates and the latest free ski skills. Mity Mites win

The Park City Miners Mity Mites season continues after a significant victory over Taylorsville on Saturday, Oct. 27 in Taylorsville. Two touchdowns by Max Meza gave the Miners a win by the final score of 14-0. The Mity Mites advance in the playoffs today as they will face off against Granger at Rose Park.

Late Fall Learn to Skate & Play Hockey classes

Fine-tune your skating and hockey skills this fall and get ready for the winter season ahead. Early fall classes meet Mondays or Tuesday beginning Nov. 5-6 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The Park City Ice Arena offers skating classes for ages 3 to adult. Hockey is available on Mondays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. to those future players, ages 7-14, who have passed the Snow Flurries Learn to Skate class in hockey skates. Small & Tall Learn to Skate Classes

Learn to skate with your child. Basic skating skills with an emphasis on safety will be taught during a six-week session of 30-minute classes. Classes meet Tuesdays from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. or Wednesdays from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Class fees include skate rental, class time, and practice time for one adult and one child. Adult Learn to Skate classes

Want a great way to get into shape and have a great time doing it? Come join the Lunch Bunch adult skating class and "ICE"ercise at the Park City Ice Arena on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Register for the six-week session and save $3 per class or drop in on a week-by-week basis. Class fees include a 30-minute lesson, practice time and a punch card for three open-skate sessions. Adults of all ages and ability levels are welcome. Utah Avalanche Center Workshop

On Saturday, Nov. 3, the Utah Avalanche Center will hold the fourth-annual Utah Snow and Avalanche Workshop (USAW) at the SouthTowne Expo Center in Sandy (9575 South State St.). This day-long event features speakers and panel discussions focused on recent avalanche research, best practices, and lessons learned from incidents. The morning session is for avalanche and snow-science professionals only; the afternoon session is open to the public. USAW has become the largest annual regional avalanche workshop in the U.S and more than 600 participants from around the Intermountain West are expected to attend. Soldier Hollow Soup’s On Fundraiser

On Friday, Nov. 9, Soldier Hollow is hosting a soup tasting, silent auction and live auction to benefit the Soldier Hollow youth ski programs and Team Soldier Hollow. The silent auction and soup tasting from the area’s best restaurants is scheduled to start at 6 p.m., while the live auction is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Make a $20 donation and keep the mug. New golf simulator at the Basin Recreation Fieldhouse

Take a swing at Basin Recreation’s new golf simulator at Basin Recreation Fieldhouse (1388 Center Drive) starting Nov. 6. One-hour tee times on the turf field with the 20-foot projector screen are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Play on courses such as Bethpage Black, Torrey Pines, Golf Club Scottsdale and many more. Adult Futsal League

The FITT Workshop

The FITT Workshop (Fitness, Injury prevention, Tennis technology and Technique) is all about fun, tennis, education and a whole-body workout. Learn what your weaknesses are, where they are exposed in your game, and how to strengthen them. Participants will receive an injury-prevention screening, movement analysis, movement training, tennis cardio/strengthening drills and leave with a personalized tennis program (dynamic warm up, conditioning & cool down). The workshop size is limited to eight people to maximize individual attention). It is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 10, from 9 to 11 a.m. and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the PC MARC. The cost is $75. Cardio Tennis is a heart-pumping adult clinic offered at the PC MARC. This clinic focuses on maintaining a constant elevated heart rate in the fat-burning zone while you participate in fast-moving tennis drills and points.
