PCHS Miners hockey back in action

The 11-1 PCHS Hockey team faces off against the 12-0 defending state champion Judge Memorial Bulldogs Monday, Jan. 21 at 10:15 a.m. at the Park City Ice Arena. This match-up could be a preview of the finals of the Utah high school hockey playoffs, which begin Feb. 6.

Town Race Series back at PCMR

The Town Race Series makes its return to Park City Mountain Resort on Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 3 to 6 p.m. The race will be held at the Eagle Race Arena. The entry fee is $20 for an individual and $75 for a team of four. For a season pass to all four races (Jan. 23, Feb. 13, Mar. 6 and 20) registration is $60 for an individual and $240 for teams of four. January Jump at Basin Recreation

Youth Crew is back for the new year. Basin Recreation will be bouncin’ down to the Wairhouse Trampoline Park on Saturday, Jan. 26th from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Drop-off and pickup are at The Fieldhouse. Cost is $25 and includes pizza, arcade games, trampolines, and more. Space is limited, so be sure to sign up ASAP. Celebrate Skating Month at PC Ice Arena

Park City Ice Arena and the Figure Skating Club of Park City will be celebrating United States Figure Skating’s National Skating Month on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 1:45 to 3:15 p.m. with free skating, free lessons by the talented staff of skating professionals, door prizes, and skating demonstrations by members of the Figure Skating Club of Park City. Guided Snowshoe Hike

Join Basin Recreation for the next Guided Snowshoe Hike at Spring Creek Trail on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 10:30 a.m. All snowshoe hikes last about one to two hours. Trail conditions may vary. Snowshoes are suggested but yak tracks or boots may be sufficient. All guided hikes are free and are a great opportunity to meet new hiking partners. Please leave dogs at home for this function. Kickboxing at Silver Mountain

Kickboxing is a fun way to burn calories, strengthen your body and relieve stress. Silver Mountain Sports Club is now offering kickboxing classes on Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. at the Prospector Square location, 2080 Gold Dust Lane. Taught by world-champion kickboxer Travis Mason, this new class is open to men and women of all ages. Kickboxing is free for Silver Mountain Sports Club members and punch-pass holders. Silver Ski Nordic Tour

Basin Recreation’s Silver Ski Nordic Tour is right around the corner! Start a cross-country ski trek at White Pine on Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. and finish at the Newpark Town Center Plaza. Soup, hot beverages, and games will be available at the finish line at 11 a.m. Free winter hats will be given to the first 150 people to attend. There will be giveaways throughout the event. Women’s Skate Ski Clinic at Soldier Hollow

Refine your skate-skiing skills in this four-week clinic on Wednesdays (Jan. 23 & 30), 9:30-10:30 a.m. Fee of $100 for all four sessions includes trail pass and rental equipment on that day. There will be groups for beginners to advanced skate skiers.

UOP Explorers

UOP Explorers is geared toward skiers with intermediate skiing ability who want to enhance skills and try a variety of ski disciplines like ski jumping, freeride skiing (terrain park and jumps), freestyle mogul skiing and alpine skiing. Sessions are held on Mondays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Session 1: Jan. 7-Feb. 4; Session 2: Feb. 11-March 11. Cost is $185 per session. President’s Week camp will be held Feb. 19-22, 10 a.m-4 p.m.; cost is $275 (including Canyons Resort lift ticket). Team Soldier Hollow cross-country program

Looking for a fun, active and affordable winter sport? Join Soldier Hollow’s youth cross-country ski program in Midway at the 2002 Olympic venue. U.S. Masters ski season schedule

The 2013 U.S. Masters ski season schedule has been released. If you are 18 or older and want to race the same caliber venues as Olympic skiers, attend JANS Cup races this year. The 2013 JANS Cup schedule is: Feb. 9-10 – Snowbasin Resort; Feb. 22-24 – Wolf Mountain; March 8-10 – Snowbasin Resort. Adult race training and advance skiing are available at Park City Mountain Resort. The Masters program features 90-plus all day and night sessions featuring gates and the latest free ski skills.
