Utah Olympic Park hosts national events

The Park City Nordic Ski Club and Utah Olympic Park will host the 12th annual Springer Tournee as well as the 2011 U.S. Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Championships. The event will bring 100 athletes ages 6 to 34 and the history-making 2010 nordic combined Olympic team medalists Billy Demong, Johnny Spillane, Brett Camerota and Todd Lodwick. Friday, July 30, will see the ski-jumping event at 9 a.m. on the normal hill and the roller-ski event at 5 p.m. at the Utah Olympic Park. Saturday, July 31 will have a "Festival of Flight" large-hill exhibition event from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Utah Olympic Park. Sunday, Aug. 1, at 9 a.m. will see large-hill ski jumping, followed in the evening at Soldier Hollow with the 10K roller-ski event that will crown the large-hill champion. Admission is free. B98.7 presents third annual fun run for WSS

On Saturday, July 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., B98.7 will sponsor the third annual Winter Sports School 5K Fun Run and Community Fair, featuring a 5K run, costume race, hula hoop competition, food, music, beverages, prizes, drawings, interactive booths and displays, face painting, performances, health screenings, safety demonstrations and more. Admission for the race and fair are $25 for adults and $15 for kids younger than 17. For admission to the fair only, cost is $5 per person. All proceeds will benefit the Winter Sports School Scholarship Fund and the United Nations World Food Program. Iron Horse Bash benefits local business

On Saturday, July 31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Iron Horse Bash will attempt to prove to the people of Park City that businesses in the Iron Horse District are still worth the trip despite construction on Bonanza Drive. The event will begin at 10 a.m. with an introductory circuit workout class, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Lululemon Athletica will sell merchandise and provide food for a small fee. Face painting will be offered, and music will pump through the streets from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A local yoga instructor will lead the spectators in a free evening yoga class from 4-5 p.m.

H20 Overdrive hosts stand-up paddleboard

The H20 Overdrive SUP CUP series comes to the Jordanelle State Park this Saturday at 9 a.m., bringing with it some of the top professionals in the sport. The opening event is the Ghost Town Paddle, an open age group course open for all types of craft and ability level. The pro race will be held at 11:30 a.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit the National Ability Center.

Park City High School girls’ soccer tryouts

Park City High School will be hosting girls’ soccer tryouts Aug. 2-4. They will be held at Quinn’s Junction Sports Complex fields, from 8 to 11 a.m. each day. Athletes are required to bring a ball, running shoes, soccer attire and water.

Basin Recreation offers guided trail hikes

Basin Recreation will be offering guided hikes on its vast trail system, two times each month. Basin Recreation staff will instruct participants on proper trail etiquette, safety issues and trail knowledge. Kids are welcome, but not strollers or dogs. This service is free and a great opportunity to meet some people, find some new trails and get some exercise. For the list of dates and hiking trails, visit http://www.basinrecreation.org.

Golf course to host annual PCMGC event

The annual Park City Men’s Golf Club member/member member/guest event at the Park City Golf Course is accepting registration for the first 60 paid teams. Payment must be made in cash or check (payable to PCMGC) and goes to the men’s club. For more information, call 435-615-5800. The dates are July 30 through Aug. 1.

Salt Lake Bees transportation package

On Aug. 8, the NYPC and Park City Transportation are offering a $28 package that includes round-trip transportation, one reserved box seat, beverages on the bus, post-game pizza, and a reserved seat for a concert at Quarry Village featuring Coles Wholen. 12th annual TriUtah Jordanelle Triathlon

Registration closes on Sunday, Aug. 15, for the 12th annual TriUtah Jordanelle Triathlon at Jordanelle State Park. Packet pickup will be available Tuesday, Aug. 17, at Salt Lake Running and Multisport (2454 south, 700 east). Packet pickup and body marking are offered 6:30-8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, with races starting at 8:30 a.m. Sprint and Olympic races are offered. Sign up for co-ed flag football

Park City Recreation is offering 7 vs. 7 adult coed flag football in City Park on Thursday nights, beginning Sept. 2 and running through Oct. 28.
