WSS to hold cycling clinic

The Winter Sports School will host a Cycling Clinic with Dr. Max Testa on Saturday, Oct. 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Physical Therapy Department of the Park City Medical Center. Improve your cycling performance and enhance your on-bike experience. The cost is $200 per person and pre-registration is required. Proceeds will benefit the WSS Scholarship Fund. Power Hour @ the Park workouts for moms

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Whitney Kozlowski invited mothers to bring their strollers to Willow Creek Park at 9 a.m. for "boot-camp-style" workouts that last 60 minutes and include a mix of drills, cardio and strength training. The workouts are held outdoors and accompanied by music. Cost is free for the first class and $8 per class afterward. For $80, mothers can buy an unlimited pass, and a $35 punch pass is offered for five classes. Mothers with babies should bring jogging strollers, and participants are also welcome to come without their babies in tow. Basin Recreation offers guided trail hikes

Basin Recreation will be offering guided hikes on its vast trail system, two times each month. Basin Recreation staff will instruct participants on proper trail etiquette, safety issues and trail knowledge. Kids are welcome, but not strollers or dogs. People’s Health Clinic offers golf classic

The People’s Heath Clinic will hold its first-ever Caring Community Golf Classic on Friday, Sept. 10, at the Park Meadows Country Club. The event is designed to draw awareness and raise funds to continue the clinic’s work serving healthcare needs for Summit and Wasatch Counties. The day will include 18 holes of golf, lunch, 19th hole refreshments, activities and a gift bag. The event will be a shamble format with a shotgun start beginning at noon. Funky 5K celebrates Labor Day

The Funky 5K Race on Miner’s Day will be celebrated in Park City on Monday, Sept. 6, with prizes for the funkiest costumes and top race finishers. Pre-registration is $20 for adults and $10 for youth under 19 at http://www.arts-kids.org. Registration the day of the race begins at 7 a.m. and is $30 for adults and $15 for youth under 19. Arts-Kids and the Park City Peaks Hotel are offering an overnight discount package which includes lodging, race registrations, and transportation to and from Main Street the night before the race. The Funky 5K Race is a fundraiser for Arts-Kids, the Park City after-school youth development program using the expressive arts and group techniques to improve life skills like communication, problem-solving, creative thinking and listening.

Schützenfest 5K run benefits youth skiers

The Blue Boar Inn & Restaurant will host the ninth annual Schützenfest "Shoot for the Finish Line" 5K Run/Walk on Sept. 25 at 9 a.m. at Wasatch Mountain State Park in Midway. Proceeds will benefit Soldier Hollow youth cross country sports program. The race will start at the Wasatch Mountain State Park Visitor’s Center, across from The Blue Boar at 1235 Warm Springs Road, and travel around Wasatch Mountain State Park on roads and trails. Runners can register for the 5K run at The Blue Boar Inn, online at http://www.active.com, or on the day of the race at the Wasatch Mountain State Park Visitor’s Center starting at 8 a.m. Registration is $20 prior to the event or $25 on Sept. 25. Runners will receive a long-sleeve shirt and will be eligible for a multi-prize drawing including overnight stays and dinners at the award-winning Blue Boar Inn.
