Budget hearing The first required hearing as part of the budget process is scheduled to be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the Sheldon Richins Building in the Snyderville Basin. Last month, Summit County Manager Tom Fisher recommended a $76.9 million budget for the coming year, nearly a 29 percent increase over spending in 2016. The county’s fiscal year runs from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 and the council plans to finalize details by Dec. 14.   Forest Service recruiting for fire program The Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest is recruiting individuals for its wildland fire fighting programs, including Women in Wildland Fire. A recruitment fair will be held between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Scheels, 11282 State Street, in Sandy, and on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Cabela’s, 2502 Cabela’s Boulevard, in Lehi. For more information contact Michael Byers at 801-821-7287. Seasonal road closures As of Thursday, Dec. 1, the gates to State Road 150 (Mirror Lake Highway) remain open. However, the road is not being maintained. Anticipated closure is Wednesday, Dec. 7.
