Candidate filing window opens Friday
The filing window to register as a candidate for the 2016 election is open from 8 a.m. on Friday, March 11 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 17. Candidates must file in person at the Summit County Clerk’s Office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Four Summit County Council seats will be on the ballot, in addition to three Board of Education seats from each school district in Summit County. One local seat in the state Senate and three state House of Representatives seats will also be on the ballot.
The filing fee for each office is:
- Summit County Council: $213.69 (subject to change pending a County Council vote on Wednesday)
- Board of Education: $50
- State Senate: $111.43
- State House of Representatives: $80.71

Tech Center development application appears to have new life
The Tech Center development proposal seems to have entered a new phase, after county councilors indicated their receptiveness to the more ambitious proposals offered by the developers in their original application, including a new transit center.
