According to the Summit County Attorney’s Office, the following cases were heard on Sept. 21 and Sept. 28 in Third District Court at the Summit County Justice Center:

Monday, Sept. 28

Mayda Mishon Wanosik-Gilley, 37, of Park City, entered a guilty plea to attempted theft, a second-degree felony and burglary, a third-degree felony. The court imposed a zero-to-five year sentence at the Utah State Prison and a $5,000 fine for each offense to run concurrent to each other and consecutive with the case defendant is already in prison for.

Monday, Sept. 21

Jerodd V. Atwood, 38, of Cleveland, Ohio, entered into a plea in abeyance for 12 months to possession or use of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor. The court ordered the defendant to pay court costs in the amount of $2,000 and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Bo Joan Jacobson, 36, of Park City, entered into a plea in abeyance for 18 months to criminal mischief, a Class A misdemeanor. The court ordered the defendant to pay court costs in the amount of $500 and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Nicholas Anthony Bell, 47, of Helena, Montana, entered into a plea in abeyance for 12 months to possession or use of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor. The court ordered the defendant to pay court costs in the amount of $1,000 and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Joseph Andrew Buppert, 19, of Salt Lake City, entered into a plea in abeyance for 18 months to criminal mischief, a Class A misdemeanor, theft, a Class A misdemeanor, and burglary of a vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor. The court ordered the defendant to pay court costs in the amount of $500, pay restitution, complete 50 hours of community service and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Benjamin Isaac Choate, 35, of West Jordan, entered into a plea in abeyance for 12 months to attempted possession or use of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor. The court ordered the defendant to pay court costs in the amount of $1,250, complete 50 hours of community service and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Steven J. Syme, 50, of Magna, entered a guilty plea to possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $2,500 fine. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 24 months, ordered him to serve 23 days in jail with credit for 23 days previously served, pay a $500 fine, complete 30 hours of community service and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Ka Xiong, 63, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, entered a guilty plea to possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a third-degree felony. The court imposed a zero-to-five year sentence at the Utah State Prison. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 24 months, ordered the defendant to serve 34 days in jail with credit for 7 days served and complete other standard terms and conditions.

John W. JR McIlwaine, 70, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, entered a guilty plea to possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a third-degree felony. The court imposed a zero-to-five year sentence at the Utah State Prison and a $5,000 fine. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 14 months and ordered him to serve 72 days in jail and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Matthew Lee Golding, 31, of Sandy, was sentenced for the offense of driving under the influence, a third-degree felony. The court imposed a zero-to-five year sentence at the Utah State Prison and a $5,000 fine. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on supervised probation for 36 months and ordered him to serve 62.5 days in jail, pay a $1,500 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Michael R. Meier, 43, of Park City, was sentenced for the offense of assault, a Class A misdemeanor and assault against a police officer, a Class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $2,500 fine for each count. Those sentences were stayed and the court placed the defendant on supervised probation for 36 months and ordered him to complete other standard terms and conditions.

Sara M. Biasutti, 37, of Bountiful, entered into a plea in abeyance for 18 months to possession or use of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor. The court ordered the defendant to pay court costs in the amount of $750, complete 40 hours of community service and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Collin Peter McDermott, 27, of Heber City, entered a guilty plea to burglary of a dwelling, a second-degree felony. Sentencing is Nov. 9.
