According to the Summit County Attorney’s Office, the following cases were heard on Dec. 7 in 3rd District Court at the Summit County Justice Center:

Randall Scott Verwer, 48, of Heber City, entered into a plea in abeyance for 12 months to wanton destruction of protected wildlife, a third-degree felony. The court ordered the defendant to pay a $500 fine, pay restitution of $750 and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Soloman Bayles-Roberts, 23, of Des Moines, Iowa, entered into a plea in abeyance for 90 days to possession or use of a controlled substance, a class B misdemeanor. The court ordered the defendant to pay a $250 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Michael David Balli, 54, of Salt Lake City, entered a guilty plea to retail theft, a class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $2,500 fine. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 12 months, ordered him to serve three days in jail and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Calan John Ray, 24, of Park City, entered a guilty plea to possession or use of a controlled substance, a third-degree felony. The court imposed a zero-to-five year sentence at the Utah State Prison. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 18 months, ordered him to serve 62 days in jail and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Patrick D. Mikesell, 48, of Coalville, entered a guilty plea to criminal mischief, a third-degree felony, and assault, a class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a zero-to-five year sentence at the Utah State Prison and a $5,000 fine for criminal mischief. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $2,500 fine for assault. Those sentences are to run concurrent to each other and consecutive to any other sentences currently being served by the defendant.

Gustavo Angel Vazquez, 29, of Clearfield, entered a guilty plea to theft, a class A misdemeanor, and burglary of a vehicle, a class A misdemeanor. Sentencing is Jan. 25.

Irina Lyubner, 56, of Park City, was sentenced for driving under the influence, a third-degree felony. It was her fifth driving under the influence conviction since 2001 and her second felony conviction. The state recommended that she serve one-year in the Summit County Jail. The court refused to impose that sentence. Instead it placed her on court probation for 36 months, ordered her to serve 62.5 days home confinement with work release, pay a $1,500 fine, complete 50 hours of community service, and complete other standard terms and conditions.
