According to the Summit County Attorney's Office, the following cases were heard on Monday, July 11, in Third District Court at the Summit County Justice Center:

Thomas Brown, 35, of North Minneapolis, Louisiana, entered a guilty plea to attempted possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a Class B misdemeanor. The court imposed a 180-day jail sentence. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 12 months, ordered him to pay a $1,900 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Randi Marks, 41, of Salt Lake City, entered a 12-month plea in abeyance to wanton destruction of protected wildlife, a Class A Misdemeanor. The court ordered the defendant to pay a $1,000 fee, pay $400 in restitution and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Latoya A. Mccurn, 30, of Stockton, California, entered a guilty plea to attempted unlawful acquisition/possession/transfer of a financial transaction card, a Class A misdemeanor, and burglary of a vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $2,500 fine for each count. Those sentences were stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 18 months, ordered her to serve 21 days jail with credit for 20 days served, pay a $500 fine, and complete other standard terms and conditions.

William Lloyd Thornock, 36, of Evanston, Wyoming, entered a guilty plea to burglary, a third- degree felony. Sentencing is August 29.

Eldon Alan Johnson, 62, of Oroville, California, entered a guilty plea to attempted possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a Class A misdemeanor, and impaired driving, a Class B misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $5,000 fine for attempted possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and imposed a 180-day jail sentence and a $1,500 fine for impaired driving. Those sentences were stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 18 months, ordered him to serve six days in jail and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Luis Gabriel Gonzalez-Sacundo, 19, of Park City, was sentenced for the offense of assault against a peace officer knowing the person is an officer, a Class A misdemeanor, and assault, a Class B misdemeanor. Arla Jean Funk, 45, of Park City, was sentenced for the offense of driving under the influence, a third-degree felony. The court imposed a zero-to-five year sentence at the Utah State Prison and a $5,000 fine. That sentence was suspended. The court placed the defendant on supervised probation for 36 months, ordered her to serve seven days in jail followed by 55 days of home confinement, pay a $1,500 fine, and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Ivan Christopher Garcia, 31, of Murray, was sentenced for the offense of attempted theft, a third-degree felony. The court imposed a zero-to-five year sentence at the Utah State Prison and a $5,000 fine. That sentence was suspended. The court placed the defendant on supervised probation for 36 months, ordered him to serve one year in jail with credit for 115 days served, pay restitution in the amount of $10,700 and complete other standard terms and conditions.
