According to the Summit County Attorney’s Office, the following cases were heard on July 20 in the Third District Court at the Summit County Justice Center:

Joe Ray Arevalo De La Pena, 42, of Park City, entered a guilty plea to assault, a Class B misdemeanor. The court imposed a six-month jail sentence. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 12 months and ordered the defendant to pay restitution in the amount of $950.77, to have no contact with the victim and to complete other standard terms and conditions.

Thomas Edward Forster, 49, of Sandy, entered a guilty plea to attempted failure to stop at command of law enforcement, a Class B misdemeanor, and DUI, a Class B misdemeanor. The court imposed a six-month jail sentence for each count and a $1,420 fine. Those sentences were stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 12 months, ordered the defendant to complete 72 hours of community service, pay a $1,420 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Shani Cecilia Fullmer, 45, of Magna, entered a guilty plea to possession or use of a controlled substance, a Class B misdemeanor, and possession of use of drug paraphernalia, a Class B misdemeanor. The court imposed a 180-day jail sentence and a $500 fine. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 12 months, ordered the defendant to serve six days in jail, pay a $500 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Marc Helfer, 54, of Clearlake, California, entered into a plea in abeyance for a period of twelve months to possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a third-degree felony. The court ordered the defendant to pay a $2,500 fee and complete other standard terms and conditions.

The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $2,500 fine.
