According to the Summit County Attorney’s Office, the following cases were heard on July 27 in Third District Court at the Summit County Justice Center:

Christopher Andrew Poe, 44, of Salt Lake City, entered a guilty plea to attempted possession or use of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $2,500 fine. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 18 months, ordered him to pay a $500 fine, complete 24 hours of community service and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Tyler J. Briggs, 28, of Evanston, Wyoming, entered a guilty plea to possession or use of a controlled substance, a third-degree felony. The court imposed a zero-to-five year sentence at the Utah State Prison and a $5,000 fine. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on supervised probation for 36 months and ordered him to serve 180 days in jail with credit for 31 days served, pay a $250 recoupment fee and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Ryan Hymas, 40, of Salt Lake City, entered into a plea in abeyance for a period of 18 months to possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a third-degree felony. The court ordered him to complete 24 hours of community service, pay a $500 fee and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Colton W. Penny, 20, of Ogden, entered a guilty plea to possession or use of a controlled substance, a Class B misdemeanor, and possession or use of drug paraphernalia, a Class B misdemeanor. The court imposed a six-month jail sentence and a $250 fine for each count. Those sentences were stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 12 months, ordered him to pay a $500 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Thao P. Xiong, 35, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, entered a guilty plea to possession or use of a controlled substance, a Class B misdemeanor. The court imposed a 180-day jail sentence. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 12 months, ordered the defendant to serve five days in jail with credit for one day served and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Miriam Kareen Rinderknecht, 72, of Park City, Utah, was sentenced for the offense of possession or use of a controlled substance, a third-degree felony. The court imposed a zero-to-five year sentence at the Utah State Prison and a $5,000 fine. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 24 months, ordered her to be on home confinement for three months and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Michael R. Meier, 43, of Park City, entered a guilty plea to assault, a Class A Misdemeanor, and assault against a police officer, a Class A misdemeanor. Sentencing is Sept. 21.

Isabelle Cooke, 19, of Salt Lake City, entered into a plea in abeyance for a period of 12 months to unlawful for minor to consume an alcoholic product, a Class B misdemeanor. The court ordered the defendant to pay a $200 fee and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Ramon R. Garcia, 28, of Hide Out, entered a guilty plea to DUI, a third-degree felony. Sentencing is Sept. 21.
