According to the Summit County Attorney's Office, the following cases were heard on Monday, June 19 in 3rd District Court at the Summit County Justice Center:

Shiya Varee Wells, 30, of Eldridge, Iowa, entered into a 12-month plea in abeyance to attempted possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a class A misdemeanor. The court ordered the defendant to pay a $2,500 fee and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Lamberto Arcos-Ramirez, 39, of Chicago, entered a guilty plea to attempted possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence. That sentence was suspended and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 18 months, ordered him to pay a $4,750 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Victor Chavez-Rubio, 22, of Park City, entered a guilty plea to attempted aggravated assault, a class A misdemeanor. Sentencing is Aug. 7.

Yesenia B. Gomez, 21, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, entered a guilty plea to attempted possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a class B misdemeanor. The court imposed a 180-day jail sentence and a $3,000 fine. That sentence was suspended and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 12 months, ordered the defendant to pay a $3,000 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Jason Stephen Gull, 47, of Park City, entered into an 18-month plea in abeyance to assault, a class A misdemeanor. The court ordered the defendant to pay a $500 fee and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Santino Leigh Laporta, 25, of Salt Lake City, entered a guilty plea to possession or use of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $2,500 fine. That sentence was suspended and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 12 months, ordered the defendant to pay a $500 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

J. Perry Thomas, 20, of Cottonwood Heights, entered into an 18-month plea in abeyance to failure to respond to an officer's signal to stop, a third-degree felony. The court ordered the defendant to pay a $700 fee, complete 50 hours of community service and complete other standard terms and conditions.

James Bennett Marshall, 28, of Taylorsville, was sentenced for the offense of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, a third-degree felony. The court imposed a zero-to-five year sentence at the Utah State Prison and a $5,000 fine. That sentence was suspended and the court imposed a 62-day jail sentence, including 31 days to be served in the Summit County Jail followed by 31 days on monitored home confinement. The court placed the defendant on supervised probation for 36 months, ordered him to pay a $1,430 fine, complete 200 hours of community service, and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Daniel C. Collins, 29, of Park City, was found guilty of two counts of assault, both infractions. The court ordered the defendant to pay an $800 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Danieal F. Wiegner, 33, of Salt Lake City, was sentenced for the offenses of burglary, a third-degree felony, and theft, a class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a zero-to-five year sentence at the Utah State Prison and a $5,000 fine for burglary, and imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $2,500 fine for theft. Those sentences were suspended and the court imposed a 56-day jail sentence for burglary, with credit for 56 days served. The court placed the defendant on supervised probation for 36 months, ordered the defendant to complete 100 hours of community service, pay restitution, and complete other standard terms and conditions.
