Court report: Park City man pleads guilty to attempted rape

According to the Summit County Attorney's Office, the following cases were heard on Monday, Oct. 29, in 3rd District Court at the Summit County Justice Center:

Jeffery Lynn Evans, 61, of Park City, was sentenced for two counts of possession or use of a controlled substance, each third-degree felonies. The court placed him on probation for 24 months with Summit County Probation.

Mario Wilfredo Navarro, 38, entered a no contest plea to attempted aggravated assault, a class A misdemeanor, and failure to stop at the command of law enforcement, a class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a 30-day jail sentence on each count.

Tyrone Nisperos Thomas, 28, of Bountiful, entered a guilty plea to attempted possession or use of a controlled substance, a class B misdemeanor. The court imposed a 180-day jail sentence. The jail sentence was suspended and the court placed him on court probation for 12 months, and ordered him to pay a $300 fine, complete 20 hours of community service and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Aaron Robert Latta, 39, of Salt Lake City, was sentenced for the offense of driving under the influence, a third-degree felony. The court imposed sentence of zero to five years at the Utah State Prison. The prison sentence was suspended and the court imposed a 62.5-day jail sentence with credit for 44 days served. The court placed him on supervised probation for 36 months, and ordered him to pay a $1,500 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Jose Manuel Rumbo-Gallardo, 31, of Park City, was sentenced for the offense of attempted kidnapping, a third-degree felony. The court imposed a sentence of zero to five years at the Utah State Prison. The sentence was suspended and the court imposed a 90-day jail sentence. The court placed him on court probation for 36 months.

Katie Lynn Burton, 35, of Midway, was sentenced for the offense of driving under the influence, a class B misdemeanor. The court imposed a 180-day jail sentence. Rebecca Anne Ames, 37, of Bountiful, entered a no contest plea to possession or use of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence. The court suspended 351 days. The court placed her on supervised probation for 18 months and ordered her to serve 14 days in jail with credit for 14 days served and complete other standard terms and conditions.
