Court report: Park City man pleads guilty to unauthorized control of a vehicle

According to the Summit County Attorney's Office, the following cases were heard on Monday, Nov. 19, in 3rd District Court at the Summit County Justice Center:

Jamie Brett Davis, 43, of Salt Lake City, entered a guilty plea to attempting to provide false personal information to a peace officer, a class B misdemeanor. The court imposed a 180-day jail sentence and a $680 fine. The jail sentence was suspended and the court placed him on court probation for 12 months, and ordered him to pay a $680 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Arturo Avendano Jr., 54, of Miami, entered a guilty plea to attempted possession or use of a controlled substance, a class B misdemeanor, and impaired driving, a class B misdemeanor. The court imposed a 180-day jail sentence on each count. The sentences were suspended and the court placed him on court probation for 12 months, and ordered him to pay a $1,500 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Robert L. Hudgins, 55, of Columbus, Ohio, entered a guilty plea to possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, a second-degree felony. The court imposed a sentence of one to 15 years at the Utah State Prison. The sentence was suspended and the court placed him on court probation for 36 months, and ordered him to serve 220 days in jail and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Joseph Edmund Mendez, 31, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, entered a guilty plea to possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $1,900 fine. The sentence was suspended and the court placed him on court probation for 12 months, and ordered him to pay a $1,900 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Pauline Kaye Miller, 48, of Richfield, entered into a 12-month plea in abeyance to theft of services, a class A misdemeanor. The court ordered the defendant to complete 32 hours of community service and complete other standard terms and conditions.

The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $1,900 fine. The sentence was suspended and the court placed him on court probation for 18 months, and ordered him to pay a $1,900 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Astra Lorraine Judd, 40, of Salt Lake City, entered a guilty plea to attempted burglary, a third-degree felony. The court imposed a sentence of zero to five years at the Utah State Prison. The sentence was suspended and the court placed her on supervised probation for 36 months, and ordered her to complete standard terms and conditions.

Julio Alejandro Maldonado, 27, of Park City, was sentenced for two counts of possession or use of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence. The sentence was suspended and the court placed him on supervised probation for 24 months, and ordered him to complete standard terms and conditions.

Daniel Jason Martinez, 35, of Salt Lake City, was sentenced for the offense of possession or use of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and suspended 355 days. The court placed him on supervised probation for 24 months and ordered him serve 10 days in jail with credit for 10 days served, and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Marvin Lawrence Stevens, 33, of Salt Lake City, was sentenced for the offense of theft, a second-degree felony, and driving under the influence, a class B misdemeanor. The court imposed a sentence of one to 15 years at the Utah State Prison for theft. The sentence was suspended and the court imposed a 365-day jail sentence with credit for 83 days served. The court ordered him to undergo a substance abuse evaluation and successfully complete any recommended treatment and aftercare at the Summit County Jail.
