Court report: Park City man sentenced to two days in jail for DUI

According to the Summit County Attorney’s Office, the following cases were heard on Monday, March 25, in 3rd District Court at the Summit County Justice Center:

Daniel Jensen Close, 59, of Midway, entered a guilty plea to DUI, a third-degree felony. Sentencing is scheduled for May 6.

Ricky Leafty, 43, of Eagle Mountain, entered a no contest plea to child abuse, a class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence. The court placed him on court probation for 12 months and ordered him to serve 101 days in jail with credit for 101 days served and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Dustin McCormick, 39, of Draper, entered a guilty plea to DUI, a third-degree felony, and attempted failure to stop or respond at the command of police, a Class A Misdemeanor. The court imposed a sentence of zero to five years at the Utah State Prison for DUI and a one-year jail sentence for attempted failure to stop or respond at the command of police. The court placed him on supervised probation for 36 months and ordered him to serve 75 days in jail, pay a $1,500 fine, and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Brian Christopher Moniz, 32, of Park City, entered into an 18-month plea in abeyance to two counts of possession or use of a controlled substance, each class A misdemeanors. The court ordered him to pay a $750 fee and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Brett J. Brown, 48, of Sandy, entered a guilty plea to failure to respond to an officer’s signal to stop, a third-degree felony, and DUI, a class B misdemeanor. Sentencing is scheduled for May 6.

Andrew Robert Lueras III, 21, of Sacramento, California, entered a guilty plea to attempted aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony. Sentencing is scheduled for May 20.

Kendrick C. Ables, 27, of Salt Lake City, entered a guilty plea to possession of a controlled substance within a correctional facility, a third-degree felony, and burglary of a vehicle, a class A misdemeanor. Sentencing is scheduled for May 6.

Clinton Charles Goode, 44, of Park City, entered a guilty plea to DUI, a class B misdemeanor. The court imposed a 180-day jail sentence and a $1,420 fine. The court suspended 178 days jail, placed him on court probation for 12 months and ordered him to serve two days in jail, pay a $1,420 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions. He also entered into an 18-month plea in abeyance to reckless endangerment, a class A misdemeanor. The court ordered him to abide by all terms and conditions imposed for his DUI sentencing, complete 30 hours of community service and complete other standard terms and conditions.
