Court report: Wanship man sentenced for sexual battery and other charges

According to the Summit County Attorney’s Office, the following cases were heard on Monday, Feb. 11, in 3rd District Court at the Summit County Justice Center:

Kasey J. Dawson, 23, of Coalville, entered a guilty plea to attempted criminal trespass, a class B misdemeanor, and criminal mischief, a class B misdemeanor. The court imposed a 180-day jail sentence and a $450 fine on each count. The court suspended the jail sentences and placed the defendant on court probation for 24 months, and ordered the defendant to pay a $450 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Miguel Gutierrez, 22, of West Valley, entered into a 12-month plea in abeyance to possession or use of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor. The court ordered him to pay a $500 fee and complete other standard terms and conditions.



Natalie Erin James, 33, of Springville, entered a guilty plea to possession of a controlled substance within a correctional facility, a third-degree felony. Sentencing is scheduled for March 25.

Darrell Stewart Sargent, 26, of Coalville, was sentenced for the offenses of attempted burglary, a third-degree felony, and attempted aggravated assault, a class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a sentence of zero to five years at the Utah State Prison for attempted burglary. The sentence was suspended. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence for attempted aggravated assault. The court suspended 95 days, placed him on supervised probation for 36 months and ordered him to serve 270 days in jail with credit for 90 days served and complete other standard terms and conditions.



Kenneth Carl Campbell, 46, of Omaha, Nebraska, entered a guilty plea to attempted possession or use of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $500 fine. The court suspended 346 days, placed him on court probation for 12 months and ordered him to serve 19 days in jail, pay a $500 fine, and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Demarcus Lee Scott, 26, of Omaha, Nebraska, entered a guilty plea to attempted possession or use of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $500 fine. The court suspended 346 days, placed him on court probation for 12 months and ordered him to serve 19 days in jail with credit for 19 days served, pay a $500 fine, and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Andrew Eugene Christenson, 32, of Wanship, was sentenced to: one year in jail for each of two counts of sexual battery, both class A misdemeanors; one year in jail for attempted aggravated assault, a class A misdemeanor; 180 days in jail for assault, a class B misdemeanor; and 180 days in jail for domestic violence in the presence of a child, a class B misdemeanor. The court suspended the sentences except for 20 days. The court placed him on supervised probation for 36 months and ordered him to serve 20 days in jail, and complete other standard terms and conditions.
