Man exposes himself over Labor Day weekend

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report about a man wearing only sunglasses and a scarf exposing himself to two juveniles at a South Summit parking lot Labor Day weekend.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred sometime over the weekend at the Trail Lake parking lot, in Kamas. The Sheriff’s Office received the report via its email tipline Saturday. No information about the suspect is available.

Kasey Bates, a detective with the Sheriff’s Office, said the investigation is continuing. Bates said the Sheriff’s Office has received similar reports that will also become a part of the investigation.

"Right now we are just gathering our resources and trying to determine what we need to do," Bates said. "We are basically investigating a past-occurred incident."

Bates said it is not uncommon for the Sheriff’s Office to receive reports through the email tipline, adding there could be several reasons why victims choose that format.

"People will come down from their activities and will be talking about what happened to someone else and they may tell them they need to call," Bates said. "People also may not have cell service up there or they may be from out of the area. I don’t know why they specifically waited in this situation, but there could be several reasons."

Anyone with information about similar incidents or the suspect is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office tipline at 1-800-828-8477
