Police arrest Kamas man for allegedly threatening to shoot roommate’s boyfriend

Police arrested a man from Kamas on Monday for allegedly threatening to shoot his roommate’s boyfriend, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

Dispatch received a report at around 11:23 p.m. Monday night from a woman who alleged she was in a vehicle with her roommate and he was threatening to shoot himself and her boyfriend, a Sheriff’s Office report states.

When deputies stopped the vehicle in Oakley, they noticed two rifles near the driver’s seat, according to a probable cause statement. One of the rifles had a bullet in the chamber and a loaded magazine. The other weapon was not loaded.



The man, 21, told deputies that he and the woman had gotten into an argument as he was trying to leave their apartment, according to the statement. Deputies allegedly found a pipe in the center console of the vehicle, as well as scales, marijuana and a small container holding a substance suspected to be methamphetamine. The man was arrested under suspicion of possession of a weapon by a restricted person, possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and driving on a suspended license.

The next day the woman showed deputies text messages allegedly from the man in which he threatened to shoot her boyfriend, the report states. The man’s bail was increased due to the danger he poses to the victims and the community.
