Sheriff’s Report, 13-15, 2016
According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to numerous calls between Tuesday, April 5, and Sunday, April 10, including several suspected cases of fraudulent activity.
Sunday, April 10
Dispatch received a report from a man who become lost in North Summit. The man was located and transported to Park City Medical Center for minor injuries.
A man was arrested on preliminary charges of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol on Interstate 80.
Deputies stopped a vehicle on Interstate 80 and found more than one pound of methamphetamine.
Deputies arrested a man with an outstanding warrant for $25,007 at his Basin-area home.
A Basin woman alleged her son cashed two checks without her permission and forged her signature. An investigation is ongoing.
Saturday, April 9
An employee at a Kimball Junction-area convenience store reportedly found two driver’s licenses.
Someone attending a party in the Kimball Junction area contacted dispatch to report that several people had been involved in an altercation. One man was transported to Park City Medical Center for minor injuries.
A jogger was hit by a vehicle in the parking lot of a Kimball Junction-area business. She did not sustain any injuries and no citations were issued.
Dispatch received a report that three mountain bikes were stolen from a man’s storage unit in the Basin.
A Basin-area man reportedly lost $700 while attempting to secure a loan through an online website. An investigation is ongoing.
A South Summit woman reported that someone has been damaging her property, including cutting gate wires and destroying solar lights.
Uinta County dispatch received a report that a man was acting suspiciously while walking along Mirror Lake Highway. Summit County deputies responded and the man was cited for possession of paraphernalia and released.
Friday, April 8
Dispatch received a report about a domestic violence situation between a man and a woman at a home in the Basin. The man was arrested on preliminary charges of criminal mischief and intoxication.
Deputies responded to a domestic violence situation between two women at a home in the Basin, but were unable to locate one of the suspects. An investigation is ongoing.
Deputies stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of a Kimball Junction-area business and found 15 grams of marijuana. The driver was cited for possession and released.
A Basin-area man reported that he had been contacted about a loan payment that had been unknowingly taken out in his name.
A man reported a grade laser, laser receiver and laser tripod worth about $1,400 were stolen from a job site in the Basin.
A man claimed that someone wanting to buy his cell phone gave him a fraudulent check for $1,750.75.
Thursday, April 7
Dispatch received a report from a man that his cabin along Mirror Lake Highway had been broken into. Several items, such as beds and televisions, were damaged or destroyed. An investigation is ongoing.
Salt Lake City police contacted dispatch about a potentially suicidal man at a North Summit-area hotel. Deputies located the man and he was voluntarily transported to Park City Medical Center.
Deputies responded to a Kimball Junction-area business after receiving a report that a fraudulent check had been used. An investigation is ongoing.
Deputies stopped a car traveling along Interstate 80 and arrested the driver for traffic-related offenses, including not having a driver’s license. While at the Summit County Jail, deputies discovered the man possessed a fake ID and Social Security card. He was charged with fraud and placed on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold.
Dispatch received a report that an Acura MDX was parked at an intersection in a Basin-area neighborhood and the driver appeared to be unresponsive. He was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of a psychotoxic drug, driving on a denied license, failure to display license plate and impeding traffic.
Wednesday, April 6
Deputies responded to a domestic-violence situation between a man and a woman at a North Summit home, but discovered the fight had only been verbal. No citations were issued and the man agreed to leave for the residence for the night.
A Basin-area man was arrested on preliminary charges of obstruction of justice and providing false information to law enforcement after he admitted to stealing his wife’s prescription medication. Last week, she alleged that someone had broken into her apartment, stole the medication and $20 from her purse.
Tuesday, April 5
A man staying at a Basin-area hotel was arrested on preliminary charges of domestic violence and intoxication after breaking several items in the hotel and allegedly assaulting another person.
A Taylorsville woman reported that her credit card had been fraudulently used to make approximately $1,200 worth of purchases in Summit County. An investigation is ongoing.
Dispatch received a report that two men were trespassing at the Swaner EcoCenter and had removed elk antler sheds from the preserve. An investigation is ongoing.
An employee at a Basin-area business was arrested on preliminary charges of felony theft for allegedly stealing more than $1,500 in cash.
Dispatch received a report of a driver traveling on a Basin-area road who appeared to be intoxicated. The driver reportedly parked in the lot of a Basin-area business and began walking. He was stopped by deputies and was arrested on preliminary charges of intoxication.
A Basin-area man filed a report about an incident that occurred on April 1. The man claimed his personal identification had been used in an attempt to secure two separate loans. A fraud report was also filed with the Logan City Police Department. An investigation is ongoing.
