According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputy stopped a vehicle on State Road 224 on Sunday, May 12 for a revoked registration and no insurance, and found the driver had a warrant for multiple charges. She had a young child in the vehicle, who was transported home. The driver was arrested for the warrant and operating a vehicle with no insurance.

Deputies responded to a report of an intoxicated male who shoplifted several items from a Kimball Junction area store. He was arrested for intoxication and retail theft.

On Saturday, May 11, deputies responded to an apparent suicide in South Summit.

On Friday, May 10, two vehicles collided at the intersection of Highland Drive and Bitner Road. One driver was cited for failure to yield and the other driver was cited for driving on a denied license. Both vehicles were towed.

During a routine stop on S.R. 40, the deputy discovered one of the passengers had a warrant. The passenger was taken into custody and the other passengers were let go on a verbal warning.

A vehicle was stopped on Interstate 80 for lane and tinted window violations. During the stop, the suspect made several conflicting statements regarding his criminal history. The police dog used to detect narcotics indicated there were illegal drugs in the vehicle. The suspect then admitted he had a small amount of marijuana. The deputy searched the vehicle and found a loaded handgun, 60 grams of cocaine and 50 grams of heroin. The driver was arrested for possession with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a restricted person and possession of marijuana.

On Thursday, May 9, a man was stopped on I-80 for a revoked registration. During the stop, he provided a fake identification. According to the Sheriff’s Office, he admitted he paid for the identification. He was subsequently arrested and booked on multiple charges.

Deputies responded to a report that a Basin man had assaulted his pregnant girlfriend. He was reportedly disorderly and intoxicated, and had damaged property during the incident. He also allegedly head butted the neighbor and tried to punch him. He was arrested on several charges. The case was also referred to the Division of Child and Family Services as the pregnant girlfriend was reportedly drinking large amounts of alcohol.
