A 24-year-old Park City man was arrested for driving in the wrong direction down Interstate 80 Friday night, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

At around 4 a.m., dispatch received a report that a car was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-80 and speeding. The report states deputies found the vehicle abandoned in the median near mile marker 141.

The driver was located at his home and admitted to driving while intoxicated. He was arrested for open container, driving under the influence and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to numerous calls between Sunday, Jan. 31, and Sunday, Feb. 7, including two sexual assaults and two deaths:

Sunday, Feb 7

Deputies and medical personnel responded to a report of an intoxicated and potentially suicidal South Summit woman.

Deputies stopped a car on State Road 224 for multiple lane violations and found several open containers in the car. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.

Dispatch received a report about a custody dispute between a South Summit man and a woman.

Deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive 67-year-old man at a South Summit home. He was later pronounced deceased. An investigation is ongoing, but the death did not appear suspicious.

Deputies responded to an argument at a Kimball Junction-area business. No citations were issued.

Deputies responded to a report of an assault and arrested a suspect at his Basin-area home for aggravated assault and sexual battery.

Friday, Feb. 5

Deputies responded to a report of a man with a bandana over his face acting suspiciously at a Kimball Junction-area business. He was arrested for active warrants totaling $40,000.

Employees of a Kimball Junction-area business reported an unknown man was cleaning the bathroom and acting suspiciously. The man admitted to using drugs and deputies arrested him for a $25,000 warrant out of 4th District Court of Provo.

Thursday, Feb 4

Deputies responded to a domestic violence situation at a Basin-area home between a man and a woman. No citations were issued and the case will be forwarded to the county attorney’s office.

Deputies responded to a domestic violence situation between a man and a woman at a South Summit home and arrested the man for intoxication.

Deputies responded to a fight at a Basin-area home and arrested a man for possession of marijuana, intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Dispatch received a report from a man that his mail was stolen. It was later located and returned.

A car was hit while it was parked in a Kimball Junction-area parking lot earlier in the week. An investigation is ongoing.

A Basin-area woman reported that she was sexually assaulted. An investigation is ongoing.

A man reported his Glock 43 missing after accidentally leaving it on the roof of his car as he drove through a Basin-area neighborhood.

A business in the Basin-area reportedly received funds that were fraudulently taken from a victim in Georgia. An investigation is ongoing.

Monday, Feb. 1

Two people were trespassed from a building in North Summit and a woman was cited for possession of marijuana.

Dispatch received a report from a Kimball Junction-area business that fraudulent charges were made on a woman’s account.

A man reported that his rental skis were stolen from a Basin-area resort.

Sunday, Jan. 31

Deputies responded to a domestic violence situation between a man and a woman at a Basin-area home. The woman was arrested for assault and transported to the Summit County Jail.

Deputies responded to a domestic violence situation at a Basin-area home. No citations were issued.

Deputies stopped a motor home on a Basin-area road and arrested the driver for operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device.
