Supercruise celebrates 20 years
July 11, 2007
The Coalville Area Businesses will celebrate 20 years of Supercruises this Saturday, July 14, from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The annual event typically draws 200 to 400 classic cars beginning with the Ford’s Model-T from Salt Lake, Ogden, Evanston and Provo to meet on Main Street in Coalville. Oldies music, hosted by deejay J.C. Hackett with Oldies Productions, will provide the music, and there will be food vendors, and games, including a root beer chugging contest, a watermelon eating contest and an ice cream eating contest. A dance will begin at 7 p.m. Awards will be announced at 10 p.m.
Car owners have a chance at winning several prizes. Sponsors of the event will be giving their favorite cars T-shirts, and at 10 p.m., judges will award more than $1,500 in cash prizes will be given to the winners of the event.
Unfortunately, unlike other years, there will be no fireworks in the evening, due to the recent dry spell and wildfires throughout the state.
Coalville’s Main Street will close from noon on Saturday to midnight for the Supercruise.
Those who wish to register their cars can fill out forms (available online) and send $10 to P.O. Box 186, Coalville, Utah, 84017. Car owners may also register the day of the event for $15. For more information, visit http://www.coalvillebusiness.com or call (435) 336-2391.
