Talk about choppers resumes

Officials in Summit County might prevent private helicopters from landing on the West Side.

The operator of Park City Helitours in Prospector irked neighbors in Sun Peak last year by landing choppers at The Canyons.

Several people complained to the Summit County Commission about noisy helicopters in the Snyderville Basin.

Helicopters are not regulated by the Snyderville Basin Development Code. The Basin Planning Commission was slated to discuss possible regulations at the Sheldon Richins Building Tuesday.

Officials may prohibit helicopters from landing in western Summit County or require pilots to obtain permits to land and take off. Any new rules would likely include exceptions for military and emergency helicopters.
