Television commercial filmed in Park City available for viewing

by Jay Hamburger THE PARK RECORD

The Travelers insurance firm has finished its commercial that was made in Park City in November and it includes a series of scenes from the footage shot on Main Street.

The commercial shows Main Street with holiday decorations that were put up for the shoot itself. A group of dogs are the stars of the commercial, which is part of a series of Travelers television advertisements featuring canines in the lead roles.

At one point, the commercial shows a close-up image of a dog with a bone in its mouth taken at the Main Street-Heber Avenue intersection. Another scene shows dogs running down the Main Street sidewalk while other footage shows the dogs on upper Park Avenue, a block off Main Street.

The commercial does not make it apparent that it was filmed in Park City, but people familiar with Main Street would recognize the setting.

The film crews shot the scenes in Park City in early November. They put down a foam-like substance that looked like snow to create a winter-like setting. They also put up props in a Main Street storefront to make it look as though it was a butcher shop, dubbed Pork Butcher.

There is also a backyard scene in the commercial.

To view the commercial, visit the Travelers website, http://www.travelers.com. As of Thursday, the commercial was available on the front page of the website by choosing the video just above the image of a dog.
