Tennis team smashes Morgan

The Park City High School boys’ tennis team won 4-1 at Morgan on Monday night said head coach Jessica Watts, getting the better of a couple of close matches.

No. 1 singles player Tyler Carpenter and No. 3 singles teammate Jackson Engen won convincingly, Watts said. Things were not as easy for the No. 2 doubles team of Matt Grov and Kasra Motaghed, which overcame a slow start with a decisive finish.

At No. 2 singles, it was a carbon copy for Sam McMahon, who lost the first set and won the second and third.

Unless weather is better than expected for scheduled matches at Bear River on Wednesday, April 28, the Miners will get a long break before resuming play for divisionals at the Park City Racquet Club, beginning May 7 at 9:30 a.m. and May 8 at 9 a.m. Viewing will be open to the public.

"It’s a long break, but that’ll give us time to fine-tune things," said Watts, who said footwork and placement will be among the focuses and also noted the importance of staving off injuries.
