Tight window for locals discount on Sundance packages
The 2007 Sundance Film Festival uses a registration system for purchasing festival passes and tickets and Utah residents have some special opportunities to register before everyone else. This week, Sundance is accepting reservations for packages that include bundles of screening tickets along with festival access passes at a substantial local discount.
True Sundance Film Festival aficionados who want to ensure they will have screening tickets when January rolls around must register before 5 p.m. on Sept. 29.
According to Patrick Hubley, Associate Director, Media Relations for the Sundance Institute, even though the films for this year’s festival have not been selected yet, those who are aware of the festival’s reputation for premiering groundbreaking work are anxious to reserve screening seats .
Locals will have another opportunity to register for single ticket sales in December.
All festival passes and packages include: Credential for admission to the Sundance House at The
Kimball Art Center, Filmmaker Lodge, Film Center & admission to the Music Café. Options
-Film Lovers Package (January 19-28, $195) This package includes 12 tickets to regular
screenings, premiere screenings, and or panel discussions with a limit of 4 tickets per event, and
2 festival credentials.
-SLC Preferred Package (January 19-28, $325) This package includes 20 tickets total, up to 4
per screening and is open to all Utah Residents. Select from any screening in Salt Lake City
during the entire Film Festival.
-Locals Quick Pass (January 19-28, $200) This pass admits patron to any Festival screening in
Salt Lake City or Ogden throughout the ten days of the Festival (except to Opening Night
screenings on January 19 at Rose Wagner). No ticket selection in necessary, but must by in seat
15 minutes prior to scheduled screening time to guarantee admittance.
To register, visit festival.sundance.org before September 29. Registered patrons will be contacted via email on October 4 with an assigned date and time to purchase their pass or package. During the second week of October, registered patrons will call or go online during their assigned date and time to make their purchase.
Registration for "Local In-Person Ticket Sales" begins on Dec. 11, 2006. Locals-only passes
and ticket packages are the first available options for access to Festival screenings, providing Utah
residents with the earliest opportunity to select screening tickets, and offer tickets at a substantially lower price.
To ensure local benefits reach local audiences, proof of Utah residency is required when packages
and passes are picked up at the Box Office (valid Utah Driver’s License or a photo ID and Utah
utility bill) and a Utah billing address is required for all credit card purchases. Utahns can register at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival website at festival.sundance.org.

Bruce Erickson, the planning director at City Hall, has died, the municipal government said. Erickson was involved at some level in nearly all the major decisions regarding growth and development in Park City since the early 1990s.
