Two women injured in S.R. 224 crash

A woman in a Chevrolet Trailblazer suffered a broken femur in a traffic crash Friday morning that involved two vehicles on State Road 224 near Utah Olympic Park, the authorities said.

"There was a Chevy Trailblazer traveling southbound on 224 crossing the intersection of Olympic Parkway going straight like she’s going to Park City," Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Doug Devenish said.

A woman driving a Lexus sport utility vehicle was on northbound S.R. 224 waiting to turn left onto Olympic Parkway at about 7:47 a.m.

"They’re both trying to beat the yellow and they hit almost head on," Devenish said, adding that the Lexus turned in front of the Chevrolet. "The driver of the Trailblazer was pinned in. The front end of the Trailblazer was pushed in enough that her legs were pinned in there for a little while."

Both drivers were transported to the hospital. The driver of the Lexus complained of neck and back pain, Devenish said. "The one who is turning is the one who’s got the responsibility to wait for the intersection to clear," Devenish said. "She needed to yield the right of way to the one who is going straight through the intersection."

He expects the driver of the Lexus to be issued a citation.
