At a reception at the Kimball Art Center Wednesday evening, Vail Resorts and Canyons awarded $500,000 in community grants. Also, Rob Katz, CEO of Vail Resorts, talked about his company’s commitment to the community and about the ongoing dispute between Talisker Land Holdings and Park City Mountain Resort.

Among the grant recipients were: the Park City Community Foundation, The Park City Education Foundation, the Youth Sports Alliance, People’s Health Clinic, Swaner Preserve, Summit Land Conservancy, Recycle Utah, Mountain Trails Foundation, Park City Institute and the Kimball Art Center. Canyons General Manager Mike Goar said the awards are the first in a series of community partner grants with the next application cycle beginning Oct. 17.

Following the grant presentations, in his first public appearance in Park City since Vail took over management of Canyons, Vail CEO Rob Katz spoke to a large audience and covered a range of topics from the recent floods in Boulder to Vail’s long-held interest in Park City.
