The Park City Police Department on Tuesday afternoon recovered most of the jewelry taken in a smash-and-grab burglary on Main Street after searching the car believed to be the getaway vehicle.

The authorities continue to hunt for the suspects in the early Tuesday morning break-in, though.

Rick Ryan, a police captain, said investigators executed a search warrant on the abandoned Ford Taurus and found the jewelry. He said the recovered pieces of jewelry accounted for the majority of the value as well.

He said the jewelry was found in two bags inside the vehicle. The Police Department on Wednesday continued to process the jewelry as part of the investigation. Ryan said the police expect to return the pieces to Baranof Jewelers within a week.

Ryan said investigators planned to search for fingerprints in the vehicle, but it was not known whether there would be any useable prints.

The Police Department also released footage from a surveillance camera at the store showing the break-in.
